Why study Spanish?

Leer en español: ¿Por qué estudiar Español?

Studying a new language is always a good idea but studying Spanish is now a trend. Spanish is the third most spoken language after Chinese and English. These are my reasons why you need to learn Spanish.

1. Influence around the world
Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world. It is spoken in Spain, in the Caribbean Islands (Puerto Rico and Cuba), in the Dominican Republic, in North America (Mexico), in Central America (Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica) and in South America. (Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador). Spanish is also the second most spoken language in the United States.

2. For tourism
Not only will you be able to speak Spanish in Spanish-speaking countries, but when you travel to non-Spanish speaking countries you communicate with people you meet who happen to speak Spanish.

3. It will help you with learning other languages
Modern Spanish is part of the languages derived from Latin, along with others such as French, Portuguese and Italian. By learning grammatical structure you will be able to learn another language much faster.

4. Gastronomy
In Spanish-speaking countries you can find many restaurants with a Michelin star among local restaurants which have typical dishes that many Latinos cook in their small kitchens. There is nothing better than going to each country and trying their typical food.

5. Friendly people
From Puerto Rico to Argentina, you will find so many friendly people who can motivate you to learn Spanish.
